CBH completes Reflect phase of Reconciliation Action Plan
CBH is
committed to fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect within our
operations in line with our values of
respectful,
collaborative, reliable and sustainable
.
Our
Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is part of this commitment and CBH has
recently completed the ‘Reflect’ phase, which is the first of four phases.
Since CBH
launched our RAP in July 2023, we have completed a number of initiatives and
activities that lays a solid foundation for meaningful engagement with
Aboriginal communities across our areas of operation.
Aboriginal
Procurement
The Reflect
RAP stage provided the opportunity to build relationships and gain valuable
insights into the needs and aspirations of Aboriginal communities within our
geographical footprint.
One of our
key achievements during this phase has been integrating Aboriginal-owned
suppliers into our operations. An example of this is our partnership with
Oaks Civil Construction, a fully Aboriginal-owned and operated business,
working on the Broomehill Fixed Rail Loading Facility.
This
collaboration not only supports local Aboriginal businesses but also aligns
with our commitments under the ASCI (Agricultural Supply Chain Improvements)
government grants to enhance Aboriginal participation in our supply chain.
Employment
Pathways: Clontarf Academies
Another
significant milestone has been our partnership with Clontarf Academies. CBH has
been supporting Clontarf since 2016, and through this collaboration, we are
creating pathways for Aboriginal school leavers to join CBH as part of our
harvest casual programs, offering young Aboriginal Australians opportunities to
start their careers with us.
By actively engaging with local Aboriginal
communities, we are helping to promote a more inclusive workforce while
fostering long-term career development. To find out more about this
initiative, click here to watch a short video.
Cultural Education: Employee Development
Our Reflect RAP aligns to our values at
CBH, and these values will guide us as we continue to develop an inclusive and
culturally safe workplace.
As part of
this, we have progressed in developing programs such as our employee Aboriginal
Cultural Awareness Training. This online training module will
contribute towards educating employees about Aboriginal cultures, histories,
and traditions.
By fostering an environment of understanding and respect, we
aim to ensure that all employees recognise and appreciate the rich cultural
heritage of the land on which we operate. This cultural education is essential
in helping us collaborate more harmoniously and effectively.
The Next
Steps
As we move
forward, we are excited to enter the next phase of our journey — the Innovate
RAP. This stage will focus on strengthening the relationships we've established
and implementing strategies developed during the Reflect stage to deepen our
commitment to reconciliation.
Our goal is to continue fostering trust and
collaboration with Aboriginal communities, ensuring that our business practices
reflect our shared values and commitment to reconciliation.
We will keep
you informed of our progress on this important journey.
