Celebrating Flying Doctor Day 2026

15/5/2026

On Thursday 14 May, the Royal Flying Doctor Service WA (RFDS WA) once again marked Flying Doctor Day, celebrating 97 years of providing lifesaving aeromedical and primary health care services across Australia.

RFDS had their most successful day yet – raising a total of $1.7 million! This year funds raised will be used to train the 274 aviation, clinical and ground crew team members who require 4,442 hours of training to operate their new PC-12 PRO aircraft.

Thank you to all Growers, community members and CBH employees that donated! CBH is proud to match your donations as a Matched Giving Partner and together continue our support for RFDS’s vital services across grain growing communities.

Our partnership with the RFDS WA goes back more than a decade, building on a relationship that first began in 2005 and formally kicked off in 2014. Since then, CBH has contributed more than $2 million through our corporate partnership to support the vital work of the RFDS WA. In addition, the Harvest Mass Management Scheme (HMMS) has contributed over $40,000 to the charity trough nominations from Growers and CBH employees.

In grain-growing regions alone, RFDS carried out 2,901 patient retrievals in 2025 — a reminder of just how essential this service is for people working and living in regional WA.

CBH recently joined the RFDS WA as a major sponsor in launching their new initiative – The RFDS WA Schools Program. A free, curriculum-linked initiative designed to help primary school students learn about the Royal Flying Doctor Service and its role in regional and remote Western Australia.
