ISCC requirements - aerial application of pesticides

16/9/2025

With wet conditions persisting across much of the WA grain growing region, growers may have applied chemicals aerially to maintain effective agronomic management of their crops.

ISCC requires participating growers to meet the requirements of ISCC EU 202-2 Agricultural Biomass: ISCC Principles 2-6

ISCC Principle 2.6.2 Self Review

Check your activity and records against ISCC Principal 2.6.2 requirements:

  • Prohibited pesticides – must not be applied within 500m to any populated area or water bodies
    List of prohibited pesticides
  • Pesticide label instructions – application must follow the pesticide label or APVMA standards (stricter rules apply)
  • Weather conditions – document wind speed, direction, temperature, and humidity
  • Water bodies – record whether water was present or absent at the time of spraying
(Note: Farm dams and salt lakes of low ecological value are exempt, but presence/absence of water should still be recorded)
  • Residents – those within 500 metres need to have been notified in advance

Support

If you are unable to confirm compliance after reviewing your records, you can contact the CBH ISCC team by emailing iscc@cbh.com.au. You will need to provide:

  • Date and time of spraying
  • Location sprayed (with buffer zones marked)
  • Product details (chemical name + active ingredient)
  • Quantity applied
  • Common name of the pest, disease, or weed treated
  • Crop name/variety
  • Farm map with boundaries
  • Spray weather conditions (wind speed/direction, temperature, humidity) to minimise drift
  • Details of aerial spraying contractor

It is important to note that participating growers are responsible for ISCC compliance.
