CBH invites community groups to apply for a share of grants funding

Community groups, clubs and organisations across Western Australia’s grain-growing regions are encouraged to apply for CBH Group’s Grass Roots Community Grants, with $300,000 available to support projects that strengthen and connect regional communities.  

Applications are open during the month of August, with up to $10,000 available for community events and up to $20,000 for small-scale infrastructure projects. 

CBH Community Relations Manager Cassidy Bennett said the grants were designed to help local community groups turn ideas into projects or initiatives that make a tangible difference in their communities.  

"Strong regional communities are built by people who volunteer their time, contribute ideas and create opportunities for others," Ms Bennett said. 

"The Grass Roots Grants program is about backing those ideas and helping communities bring them to life.

"Each year we see applications for local projects that bring people together creating practical, long-term value for grain-growing communities.

"If you have a project that will benefit your local community, we'd encourage you to apply." 

Ms Bennett added that the strongest applications clearly explain what the community wants to achieve and why it matters.

“We're looking for projects with a clear purpose, strong community benefit and evidence of planning and local support. The more specific applicants are about the need, the people who will benefit and who is backing the project, the easier it is to see the impact the funding will have,” said Ms Bennett.

Previous recipient Fat Farmers Community Engagement Manager (WA) & National Trainer Manager Boyd Rae said the Grant helped the organisation to access equipment needed to host their upcoming Run 4 Resilience community event.

“At Active Farmers/Fat Farmers, we know strong communities are built through connection, and the CBH Grass Roots Grant has helped make that possible,” Mr Rae said.  

“The funding allowed us to access the equipment and resources needed to deliver an event that gets people moving, talking and supporting one another. It's an investment that creates lasting benefits for regional communities, and I'd encourage any community group with a vision to make a difference locally to put their hand up and apply.” 

Since 2013, CBH’s Community Investment Fund – which includes the Grass Roots Grants - has invested more than $18 million in community organisations and initiatives across regional WA. Through Grass Roots Grants alone, more than $3.9 million has supported more than 1,000 community events and projects.
