Growers encouraged to join CBH's Growers' Advisory Council
CBH’s Growers’ Advisory Council (GAC) has welcomed a new Chair and Deputy Chair, and has opened for applications across three districts.
The GAC has appointed Clayton South from Wagin as the new Chair of the GAC, replacing outgoing Chair Craig Doney. Tarnya Fraser from Quairading has been appointed as the new Deputy Chair, which was previously held by Clayton South.
In addition, three positions are now available to WA grain growers due to the expiry of terms of sitting councillors in Districts 1, 3 and 5.
CBH Chair Simon Stead congratulated the new leaders on their appointment and encouraged growers from across the three Districts to apply.
“The CBH Board and Executive team has long valued the feedback and views of the GAC.
“The GAC plays an important role in our decision-making processes on issues and opportunities that impact growers.
“Being part of the GAC allows councillors to gain a better insight into the workings of their co-operative and the broader industry, as well as grow their professional network.”
GAC member Tarnya Fraser said being part of the GAC has been a rewarding experience.
“I am loving my time on the GAC and it is incredibly rewarding to represent growers in my zone,” Ms Fraser said.
“It gives a real insight into the post-farmgate side of the grain industry and its wonderfully complex supply chain.
“We are given access to so much information and the opportunity to ask questions, challenge ideas and provide feedback.”
The GAC is made up of 16 grower members appointed for a single four-year term, with representation across the five electoral districts of CBH.
Councillors meet four times a year in person and engage with CBH management at forums and events throughout the year.
Growers interested in joining the GAC will need to address the selection criteria provided on CBH’s website and provide five grower referees.
Applications close Sunday, 23 March 2025.
Successful candidates will begin their term in July and are selected through an interview process, undertaken by a panel comprising of Directors and representatives from the GAC and CBH management.
Growers interested in applying are encouraged to contact CBH’s Manager - Government & Industry Relations Kellie Todman on 0430 638 611 and visit cbhgroup.co/GAC.
