CBH community grants top $2.2 million
The CBH Group’s Grass Roots Community Grants program has marked a major milestone, with a total of $2.2 million in grants awarded over the last eight years to 710 community groups, clubs and organisations across regional Western Australia.
The program has been growing in popularity since it was established in 2014, attracting hundreds of funding applications each funding round from community organisations located in grain growing areas.
The program is part of CBH’s Community Investment Fund and provides grants of up to $5,000 for community-related events and up to $10,000 for small scale infrastructure projects in two funding rounds, February and August, each year.
The latest funding round saw an additional $100,000 set aside for community groups and local governments impacted by Tropical Cyclone Seroja and located within the declared disaster area. The extra grants is in addition to the $150,000 that CBH donated in April to the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund Tropical Cyclone Seroja Appeal.
CBH Chief External Relations Officer Brianna Peake said the $2.2 million milestone was reached following the conclusion of the latest funding round in which 56 groups shared in a total grants pool of $250,000.
“Our Grass Roots Community Grants program has sought to fill funding gaps for regional events and projects that directly benefit growers and their communities,” Ms Peake said.
“Over the past eight years, the program has continued to grow and contribute to small scale infrastructure projects as varied as solar panels, playgrounds, gardens, toy libraries and water tanks, and community events such as agricultural shows, music concerts and science workshops.
“We look forward to continuing our support of regional communities into the future.”
The next funding round will open on 1 February 2022. More information can be found on the CBH website https://www.cbh.com.au/community/grass-roots-community-grants
